May 19 at the Shrewsbury Library, Sarah Audsley, Author
SAGE and the Shrewsbury Library are hosting, Sarah Audsley, to discuss her book, Landlock X.
From Texas Review Press- Sarah Audsley’s debut poetry collection joins a growing body of adoptee poetics. By examining the consequences of the internation transracial adoptee experience—her own— Audsley’s collection finds more questions than solid answers. Employing a variety of poetic forms, co-opting the pastoral tradition to argue for belonging to the rural landscape—despite the inheritance of displacement and removal from a country of origin—Landlock X tries to solve for all the (adoptee’s) variables and knows it is an impossible task that the “I”, “you”, and “we” of the poems only approximate.

Sage is excited to collaborate this month with Rutland’s Artist-In-Residence program through our ongoing Root words story project with a community textile work! Woven Seeds is a participatory weaving project which brings together Rutlanders to share and interlock our fibers, stories, and seeds. In partnership with 77Art, we ask community members to join us to launch Woven Seeds during two open weaving potlucks this June. The project will be initiated by Brooklyn-based participatory fiber artist Kacie Lyn Martinez who is in Rutland on an artist residency from 77Art. When the tapestries are completed, they will be buried at Vermont Farm Food Center who will cultivate our woven and budding futures. Join us on June 23rd and 30th between 11 AM and 2 PM at the Vermont Farmers Food Center in Rutland. You can bring your seeds to weave into the tapestry, a side dish to contribute to the potluck, and an openness to share and/ or listen to stories!
