Alchemy Gardens is a market garden growing vegetables, herbs and starter plants in Shrewsbury, Vermont. Founded in 2010 by farmers Scott and Lindsay Courcelle, Alchemy Gardens focuses on producing high quality, nutrient dense food, sold at the Rutland Farmers’ Market, through CSA Farm Shares, and to local co-ops and restaurants. The farm also participates in The Vermont Farmers Food Center’s multiple-farm CSA called Health Care Shares, where families are prescribed vegetable shares by their physician and then receive produce all summer long free of cost.

Alchemy Gardens has always had a strong focus on education, and jumped at the chance to help found SAGE to ensure long-lasting agricultural education in their local community. The farm hosts school groups and a crew of Vermont Youth Conservation Corps youth each summer, leads educational tours and presentations for groups of all ages, and participates in the CRAFT Apprentice training program, to name a few. Other partners have included Stafford Technical Center’s Culinary Arts program, Rutland Recreation Department, NOFA-VT, Castleton Community Center, Rutland Master Gardeners, Rutland Garden Club, and many more.

Scott and Lindsay welcomed baby Ella to the farm in October 2016, and since then, the farm is primarily managed by Scott. With the help of two full time apprentices, Alchemy Gardens continues to fulfill its mission of contributing nourishing food and education to the Rutland region.
